If you answer NO to any of the following questions you are ineligible for a Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowship. If you are unsure if you are eligible for funding you can contact Brisbane City Council on (07) 3403 8888 and ask to speak to a Creative Sector Development Officer.

Please refer to the Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships guidelines for the full list of eligibility criteria.

1. Do you live in the Brisbane Local Government Area (LGA)? * Required
If you are unsure of what LGA you live in, please enter your address into the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) website search tool or contact ECQ on 1300 881 665.
2. Are you a permanent resident or Australian Citizen? * Required
3. Are you over the age of 17 years at the time of submitting your application? * Required
4. Are you an individual emerging or early-career artist (less than 10 years’ professional practice)? * Required
5. Is your ABN in your name with a nominated address within the Brisbane LGA, or can you nominate an incorporated Auspice Organisation based in the Brisbane LGA? * Required
If you are unsure, you can enter your ABN address or your Auspice Organisation’s into the Electoral Commission of Queensland website (ECQ) or contact ECQ on 1300 881 665.
6. Is your professional development opportunity structured; either from a recognised peak body organisation or arts and cultural expert with recognised professional standing? * Required
7. Will your grant activity start after 22 March 2027 and be completed by 21 March 2028? * Required
8. Have you only applied for only one creative grant in the 2026-27 round with Brisbane City Council? * Required
You may apply for either Creative Sparks OR Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships. Applicants cannot apply for both grants.
9. Can you demonstrate financial and/or in-kind support from sources other than Brisbane City Council for the proposed project? * Required
You cannot apply for 100% of project costs.

If you answer YES to any of the following questions you are ineligible for a Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowship. 

10. Are you an employee of Brisbane City Council? * Required
11. Have you received any creative funding from Brisbane City Council totalling $10,000 or more between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027? * Required
12. Do you have any overdue acquittals for previous Brisbane City Council grants? * Required
Overdue means you have not met the due date of your acquittal report. If you are unsure if you have an overdue acquittal, please email the Community Grants Team at communitygrants@brisbane.qld.gov.au
